Jobs in healthcare and medicine are among the highest in America, according to the 2020 Best Jobs Ranking by US News & World Report. But these high wages are accompanied by a big catch.
15 of the 20 best jobs in this year’s ranking has “high” or “above average” pressure levels. About half of the first 20 jobs in this year’s ranking had a balance between work and life “low” or “below average.” For the second year in a row, medical jobs dominate this list.
Fortunately, not all health professionals need to trade high wages for poor quality of life. According to the research of the post, some jobs, such as orthodontists, dentists, and ophthalmologists provide a good balance between work and life and at least moderate stress levels.
CNBC Make It Rebecca Koenig, a professional news reporter, told US professional news that the highest-paying jobs this year have an average wage of at least $ 100,000, more than twice the average personal income in the United States. The post calculated the average U.S. income of $ 46,124 a year using Bureau of Labor Statistics data for the third quarter of 2018).
For this year’s ranking, the post analyzed data from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics to determine the 100 most-employed jobs. He then looked at all industries and measured the overall quality of each role based on seven factors: the size of the growth for 10 years, the growth rate for 10 years, the median salary, the rate of employment, future job opportunities, pressure on the level and the balance between work and life.
