The Australian Immigration Authority recently announced a new SkillSelect Invitation Course on April 11, 2020, under which 100 invitations to apply for a general immigrant visa eligible for the Independent Skilled Visa 189 and Profile Regional Skill Work (provisional) from Subclass 491 visa were sponsored.
Of the total of these invitations, 50 invitations were granted to 189 visas, and 50 other invitations were issued as part of the eligible regional subcategory 491, sponsored by the family. The minimum immigration score is 95 for visas in subcategories 189 and 491. However, applicants with the highest rating by points are invited to apply for the relevant qualifying immigrant visa. For applicants with an equal degree, the time when they reach their degrees for a subclass visa determines the order of their invitation.
Australia SkillSelect first assigns places for a 189 subclass visa, then the rest to a subclass 491 family-sponsored visa. If all places are occupied by 189 visas, a subclass 491 visa invitation will not be issued in the following professions:
|Subclass Visa||Occupation ID||Pro Rata Occupations||Minimum Point score|
|189||2212||Auditors, Company Secretaries and Corporate Treasurers||95|
|189||2335||Industrial, Mechanical and Production Engineers||95|
|491||2335||Industrial, Mechanical and Production Engineers||105|
|189||2339||Other Engineering Professionals||95|
|491||2339||Other Engineering Professionals||105|
|189||2611||ICT Business and System Analysts||95|
|491||2611||ICT Business and System Analysts||105|
|189||2613||Software and Applications Programmers||95|
|491||2613||Software and Applications Programmers||95|
|189||2631||Computer Network Professionals||95|
Applicants who have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) with prior dates will be invited first before inviting applicants for later dates. SkillSelect’s invite series is expected to occur on the eleventh day of each month, but dates may vary depending on the number of requests processed by the Australian Immigration Service.
